Shimla
Shimla is in the south western ranges of Himalayas at an elevation of 7,467 feet MSL It is the most sought after summer destination in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Most preferred honeymoon destination for couples from all over India and abroad.
It was the summer capital for the British. The pre independence structures like Viceregal Lodge, Auckland House, Christ church, town hall and colonial bungalows on mountain tops takes you back to the British era.
The town is spread over seven hills. The highest being Jakoo hill at an elevation of 2.454 meters. The greenery of forests around contain Pine, deodar and Oak trees.

It enjoys a subtropical highland climate.The average temperature during summer months of April and June ranges between 22′ C and 25′ C and ranges between 5’C and 7’C during winter months from November and February.

It is connected both by road and rail.
By road-It is situated at a distance of 350 km from New Delhi and at 120 km from Chandigarh.
By rail-You can take the Kalka passenger/Shivalik express from Chandigarh
By air- Chandigarh is the nearest major airport.
Best time to visit Shimla
Best time to visit is during summers months between April and June as the weather is ideal for an escape from the heat. To enjoy the snow fall visit Shimla from the second week of December.
The summer festival is conducted on the Ridge every year during the peak tourist season. It lasts for 3-4 days. Popular singers from all over India take part in this festival.
