New Delhi is the capital of India. It is part of a larger area known as NCT. The parliament house, Rashtrapthi Bhaven-residence of the President of India-and the Supreme court of India the three branches of the Government of India is located in New Delhi.

History

New Delhi has an illustrious history. It was created by Lord Curzon the British Viceroy in India in 1911. Upon partition of Bengal, a nationalist movement started to boycott British goods and a lot of British officers were killed. The colonial Government took a decision to reunite Bengal and transfer the capital from Kolkata-the capital till then-to New Delhi. The foundation stone to shift to a new capital was laid in 1911. It took 20 years to build and it was completed in 1931.

Delhi or Old Delhi had played a very important role in the history of India having served as the capital of various rulers/dynasties.

Weather 

The weather in New Delhi is very hot during summer months between April and June. The temperature reaches to a maximum of 47’c with an average of 43’C. The winter months between October to March records a low temperature with minimum reaching to 6’C. The area receives a low rainfall.
