Manali a resort town in the Kullu district. It is famous for tourism, farming and horticulture. The local language is Hindi. However, with the influx of tourists the locals are capable of managing English as well.  A cosmopolitan place with People from Tibet, Ladakh and Kashmir who came here to do business settled here. The popular name as Valley of Gods is fully justified with the scenery and the mountainous landscape.

The British introduced apple to the valley way back in 1870. The credit goes to  Capt R.C.Lee, an officer in the British Army who bought 33 acres of land to cultivate Apple.

It is at the northern end of the Kullu valley at a distance of 270 km from Simla, the state capital of Himachal Pradesh. At a distance of 550 km from New Delhi the capital of India is well connected to other sightseeing destinations.

The climate is moderately cold in summers and predominantly cold during winters. The average temperature during winter ranges between 10’C and 30’C during summers and between-7’C and 15’C during winters

How to reach Manali

By air- Bhuntar at 50 km is the nearest airport
By train-Shimla at 250 km is the nearest railway station.
By road-  With a distance of 550 km from New Delhi, it can easily and conveniently be reached by road from Kullu.

Best time to visit Manali

October to February is best if you like to soak in the snowfall. However avoid visiting during monsoon as there would be landslides and blockage of roads/transport.
