Kodaikanal at an altitude of 7,200 feet MSL is one of the beautiful hill stations of India  in Dindigul district of the state of Tamil Nadu. Kodaikanal means gift of the forests.  It is on the Palani Hills of Tamil Nadu. The mist clad mountain ranges,the vast lakes, beautiful valleys and waterfalls make it one of the most sought after tourist destinations in South India. It is no wonder that it has earned the name as Princess of Hill Stations.

The hill station has  cool climate through out the year. The average maximum temperature is around 19.1’C and the average minimum temperature is around 8.9’C. The minimum temperature has even touched 2.7’C

Best time to visit Kodaikanal

The summer months between March and June is ideal to visit. The climate is very pleasant for sightseeing. To witness the beauty of water falls- a lot of them- the monsoon months are ideal. If you can withstand the chill-temperature going down to 8’C- you can enjoy the winters as well.

How to reach Kodaikanal

It is well connected by road to various cities in India.

By air – Madurai International airport is the nearest airport at 120 km. Coimbatore airport is at 175 km.
By train- Kodai road railway station is the nearest at 80 km. From here you have to hire a cab to reach Kodaikanal.
By road –  It is 460 km from Bangalore, 530 km from Chennai,  175 km from Coimbatore, 255 km from Ooty and  300 km from Kochi.
