Jaipur declared by the UNESCO as the Pink City is named after Jaisingh, who founded the it in 1727. It is one of the earliest planned cities of of the bygone era. Jaipur is the main tourist destination in the state of Rajasthan and serves as the gateway to  other beautiful destinations in the state.

The city is planned as per Indian  Vastu Shastra by  Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. The roads are wide in comparison to the other contemporary cities.

It is known for unique crafts and culture. The former rulers were patrons of arts and culture. Artists and craftsmen were invited from different parts of the world to paint and prepare crafts of different varieties. Some of the famous crafts include, tarkashi, Zari, stone carving, bandani  blue pottery and block printing. Ivory carving, miniature paintings and leather wear.

Summer months between April and June are extremely hot with temperatures ranging between 35’C and 40’C. It is not possible to move around for sightseeing. Monsoon is between July and September with temperatures ranging between 34’C and 31’C. But, there are around 25 days rain in a month. Winter months between November and March is pleasant with temperature ranging between 27’C and 22’C.

Jaipur can easily be reached by road, rail and air.

By road- It has good road connectivity to major cities. New Delhi the capital  of India is 235 km, Agra famous for Taj Mahal is 225 km, Mathura is 195 km, Ajmer is 130 km.

By rail- Jaipur is well connected with rail network to major cities of India.

By air- It is well connected by air to major cities in India as well. Jaipur International airport at Sangner is just 10 km from the city.
