Dharmasthala is a temple town and a pilgrimage center in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva called as Manjunatheshwara. This is a popular pilgrimage center with more than 10,000 pilgrims visit  on a daily basis throughout the year. It lies on the banks of Netravathi river.

The specialty of this place is that, it is administered by Jains, Poojas are done by priests from Hindu Brahmins of Madhwa sect. Food is served free of cost to all the pilgrims from a mechanized kitchen.

The temple gates are open at 4.00 am daily for mandatory rituals.

It is well connected by road. It neither have a railway connection nor an airport.

By road-  It is 298 km from Bangalore,75 km from Mangalroe
By train- Mangalore is the nearest railway station at 75 km
By air- Mangalore International airport is the nearest at 80 km.

Dharmasthala weather

The summer months between April to June will be very hot. The temperature is  high with humidity. The monsoon season is between July and September. it receives heavy rains. The winter months between November and March are cool and pleasant.
