Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur  is located at the foothills of Mullayanagiri- the highest peak in Karnataka at an altitude of 3,570 feet mean sea level. It  is a beautiful town surrounded by coffee plantations and majestic mountain ranges like Mullayanagiri, Bababudan Giri, Seethalayanagiri. The aroma of coffee during the blossom season and processing lingers in the air. The Beautiful valleys formed by the mountain ranges have breathtaking views.The  beautiful waterfalls come to life during the monsoon.

It is famous for its deciduous type of forest. The Bhadra wildlife Sanctuary which is home to Tigers, Leopards, Bisons, Chital, Elephants, and Sloth bear is closeby.

It is popularly known as the Coffee land of Karnataka.

With mountain ranges of the Western Ghats, coffee plantations, and forests on all sides, it receives heavy rains during the monsoon months of June to September. The average maximum temperature during the monsoon would be around 25.5’C. The average minimum would be around 18.3’C. The winter months from October to February experience cool and dry weather with a maximum temperature around 27.5’C and a minimum of 15.0’C. The summer months from April to June are quite hot. The average maximum temperature would be 33.5’C and the average minimum would be 19.5’C.

Best time to visit Chikmagalur

The best time to visit Chikmagalur is during winter months as the weather is cool and dry. The sightseeing places can be accessed easily. The monsoon months between June and September is not ideal to visit.
