The safaris are typically conducted in open-top jeeps or well-equipped boats that take the tourists to the backwaters of the Kabini dam to give tourists a chance to observe and photograph the exciting wildlife. Safaris are twice daily. Once between 6.30 am-8.30 am and once in the afternoon between 3.00 pm-5.00 pm
The best time to visit Kabini for wildlife sightings is during the dry season, from October to May, when animals gather around the river and waterholes.

The region is characterized by a mix of moist deciduous forests, dry deciduous forests, and savannas, providing a diverse habitat for wildlife. Some of the species found here include the Indian elephant, Indian bison (gaur), sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boar, and several species of primates, including the endangered lion-tailed macaque.
